About Me

I started my career making bespoke hair systems for clients with thinning hair because I was flaberghasted at the exorbitant prices in my hometown Edinburgh. I wear a system myself and genuinley couldnt afford to pay the prices asked. I spent years researching and working with manufacturers to get the cost down and still have a system I would be proud to wear. I wanted to pass this onto clients and figure out a way to keep the costs down. I then decided it wasnt enough just to make them, I wanted to be able to cut and style them too.
I went and got every training I could get in barbering. I trained and got my qualification at the Scottish Barbering School in Glasgow, I then travelled to Nottingham to train under Sid Sottung which really lit a fire in my belly and really taught me about expanding my craft into shaving and colour. I worked at various salons around Fife and eventually landed up at David Grays in Lochgelly. I was only supposed to be there temporarily to brush up on my skill set before going to work at another David Grays in Dunfermline but I really enjoyed the clients and soon became part of the team.
The Owner at the time wanted to move on with a new venture and asked if I'd be interested in buying the shop. This was a big jump for me from renting a chair to actually owning the shop and really being able to create something I'm so proud of. Since opening Next Gen Barbers we have gone from strength to strength and really made something special. We genuinely are a one stop barber shop and my day is so varied. I really love doing hair colour and slicked back styles. I enjoy doing a skin fade but give me long textured mod cut with lots of style and I'm in my element.
